Things To Do
Florence
Maple Lane RV Park & Marina is located just off the Coast in Central Oregon. It is a prime location from which you can explore the Beautiful State of Oregon.
Florence, a quaint seaside town on the Oregon Coast, is only 15 minutes to the West. The closest major city is Eugene which is only 45 miles to the east. Some of the most beautiful Oregon Coastline is just minutes away!
Fishing
Oregon is well known for the diversity of angling opportunities throughout the state. The Siuslaw River is no exception. It offers first-class opportunities to fish for a run of wild fall Chinook salmon, as well as a robust run of hatchery winter steelhead. There are also trout and panfish in the Siuslaw River year-round. Our park really hops when the Salmon are running as our regulars return year after year for some of the best Salmon fishing around!
We are one of the few parks that have a Marina on-site for docking your boat and a county boat launch right next to the park. If one of your favorite pastimes is fishing – our location can’t be beat!
Biking
One of the favorite things to do in Oregon is to ride it’s beautiful coastline. No matter what type of biking you’re into; road biking, mountain biking or in-town cruising, Oregon has something for everyone. Many of the bicyclists who are traveling the Oregon Coast choose to stop off and tent camp at our beautiful park by the Siuslaw River.
Oregon is known for its Scenic Bikeways program with a host of opportunities to explore the beautiful coastline, Columbia River Gorge, lush, deep green forests or bike along some pristine flowing rivers. You can always find some lesser traveled path that stuns with it’s beauty!
Hiking
Oregon has a stunning array of hiking opportunities; there are mountain ranges, national forests, rocky coasts and high desert. And we have our share of them within a short distance from the park.
Sweet Creek is a beautiful trail that is a locals’ favorite. It is only a short 12 mile drive from the Park. It is a lush green trail that follows the river with moderate ups and downs and a favorite for families with children. There are picturesque walkways above the river and several falls and watering holes along the way. It’s a great place to cool off on a hot summers day!
If you’re looking for a little more adventurous hike, Kentucky Falls Trail is a 4.4 mile hike out and back that is described as an exhilarating workout. It is also close by but you should consider it will be an all-day affair. Take plenty of food and water along with you on this one!
Kayaking
If you are looking for outdoor adventure, Oregon rivers offer a wide range of kayaking trips for beginners to experienced kayakers.
The Siuslaw River is a great place to kayak in Oregon — it provides more than 30 miles of river for kayaking between the Pacific Ocean in Florence all the way up to the confluence of where the tidal river meets the flowing river 2 miles upstream from the Park. As a tidal river, kayakers can expect to observe sea otters, osprey, blue herons and salmon as well as an occasional muskrat and beaver — all right out your front door!
Oregon Dunes
The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area extends 40 miles from Florence to Coos Bay along the Oregon Coast. This amazing expanse of dunes are like no others in the world. These wind-sculpted sand dunes tower up to 500 feet above sea level in some areas and is a favorite area for off-highway vehicle riders. So rev up your ATV and go plunging down the cliffs of sand in the Oregon Dunes!
And if that’s not your thing, there are many other opportunities for recreational adventures on the Dunes including hiking, photography, fishing, canoeing, horseback riding and camping.
Sea Lion Caves
The Sea Lion Caves provides the world’s largest caves for the Steller Sea Lions in the world. It is a privately owned wildlife preserve and bird sanctuary that’s been in existence since 1932. It is located 11 miles north of Florence on beautiful Oregon Highway 101.
